The Best Kept Secret

A few pictures from the final iteration of the ‘in-situ representation of a gallery’ by The Lavender Hinge within The Lavender Hinge Showroom @ The Belesario. This delightful rotating exhibition as love letter was affectionately conserved, protracted, and fitted over a two-year period. It appeared to be the best-kept cultural secret in Buffalo, NY. It was a resonant jewel of a collection from our alliance, and I was blessed and honored to have had the opportunity to work with the most talented, provocative and beautiful Swan. I will love & miss her always. The torch carried burns ever so brightly.–The Horse

The Lavender Hinge Showroom however, lives on.............
The next installation will be by artist Eric Magnuson, co-founder of The Lavender Hinge.

Total Solar Eclipse, New Moon, Super Moon - Time to Plant New Seeds.......

Lisa Z. Morgan aka The Swan is leaving The Lavender Hinge, co-founded with Eric Magnuson aka The Horse, to focus on other artistic endeavors. The Total Solar Eclipse, New Moon, Super Moon on March the 8th presents a time of new beginnings and the opportunity to plant new seeds.

A Hinge is a mechanical device created with the purpose of 'the bringing together of two solid objects.' It is symmetrical, perfectly balanced and equal. The form itself almost appears as a man-made butterfly. To attempt to add alternative components or replace the fundamentals takes away from its stability and the beauty found in totality. To Hinge, as a verb, is a seamless and harmonious motion and it is through the act of Hinging, that wonderful and striking works have been created while remarkable and challenging experiences have been lived. Love, life and work continuously evolve and are forever changed.

“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” Jung

Full Moon on 22nd

The Full Moon on 22nd "brings illumination and heralds a sweet surrender to what is, the perfection in the imperfection. A shift in perception........"

The Lavender Hinge and Desire

The Lavender Hinge looks beautiful amidst the pages of DESIRE by The Laboratory Arts Collective. The unpicked thread speaks sympathetically to "The Seduction of St Thomas (after Caravaggio)."

Pushing the Pink - Hot off the Press

The Swan has written and curated an essay entitled Pushing the Pink or The Impossibility of Pink-ness for the latest magazine developed by The Laboratory Arts Collective. DESIRE is the theme of this edition and the essay is tucked in-between and stitched closed. Therefore, in order to enter into pink-ness one has to cut, tear, rip or carefully unpick the shocking pink thread.

DESIRE - hot off the press.

Rest In Beauty Mel - 3rd October 2015

STRUMPET & PINK was founded in January 2002 by artists Melanie Probert and Lisa Z Morgan; a capricious idea that began life on the back of a tube ticket........

Melanie Probert (Strumpet)

So the story began and so it continued with laughter, tears, beauty, frustrations and life's blessings and complications for over decade. But the journey, at least this stage here on earth, has now come to an end as the rare woman that was Melanie Probert, the Strumpet in the equation, died on 3rd October 2015.

It is with sadness and disbelief that these words are written. Words, which cannot begin to convey the loss of such a unique and gifted woman. My thoughts go to her wonderful husband with whom she found the happiness and love that she both needed and deserved and to her beautiful daughter with gorgeous new life in her arms.

My Dear Mel, may your journey be filled with all of the wild flowers, beauty and wonder that you sought and please continue with your custom of wearing inappropriate garments in inappropriate places. And most importantly smile that expansive smile and laugh your very particularly dirty laugh all of the way.

Farewell Lovely,
Lisa (Pink) xxx
